Building Stories of Milton Keynes

Building Stories of Milton Keynes

Old and new work by local artist, Farina Noorani, inspired by the architecture and built environment of Milton Keynes.

Inspired by historic and monumental architecture and its features, Farina Noorani has great respect for, and a keen interest in preserving the grandness and memory of historical sites and architectural landmarks through her artwork.

"Every one of us have a different approach of seeing the same thing, and a distinct story behind it, and with my art, I intend to capture all those viewpoints and stories together as one whole image."

Inspired by architecture, Farina's work is about the grandeur and memory of historical sites and fascinating architectural landmarks. These images and ideas overlap and superimpose one another, in the same way as they co-exist in our collective consciousness. Mixed media and free hand sketches are juxtaposed with original photographs to create one composite image.

Experience of an architectural space is central to Farina's artistic process. Architecture, and its impact on our emotions and imaginations, motivates her artwork and creative activity. For Farina, working on this subject provides a captivating energy, and however freely the watercolours flow and how dramatic the perspectives are, the presence of an underlying geometry and logic always seems to follow, binding them altogether as one image. Combining the properties of a painting and the spatial experiences of architecture as one composition and evoke what can be seen and experienced beyond the images.
