Desire Paths is a presentation of recent paintings by British artist Laura James. With a dreamlike colour palette and a tactile textural feel, Laura creates an emotive terrain which examines the relationship between our inner and outer worlds. Painting intuitively and often incorporating multiple layers of collage, cotton thread, and monoprint in her work, the artist seeks to create a sacred space where reality blurs and softens. Viewers are invited to form their own perspectives and meanings when reflecting on the work, posing the question:
“Where would your Desire Path lead you, if you followed without hesitation?”
Laura James is a painter based in Watford, Hertfordshire. She graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2015 and has exhibited works across London and the South East of England.
