The Resistible Rise - Attitude School of Dance

The Resistible Rise - Attitude School of Dance

This dance production is based upon the play ‘The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui’ by Bertolt Brecht, which is set in 1930’s Chicago and follows the swift rise to power by the fictional gangster, Arturo Ui. This is a parody of the rise of Hitler’s Nazi Party in Germany. The play is often studied at A Level, as its historical context, literary parallels to Shakespeare, and abstract theatrical techniques crossover the boundaries of Theatre Studies, English Literature and History studies.

The dance will be recreated through Russian Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Street, Contemporary and Character Dance using musical influences from the 1920’s and 1930’s, as well as other relevant eclectic pieces to create a powerful, satirical and sometimes shocking story.
